Smaro Tachmatzidou (Smaro Saliv) is an artist based in Thessaloniki.
She studied at the School of Fine Arts of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), in the Department of Visual and Applied Arts, from where she graduated in 2016. She continued with postgraduate studies (MSc) in the Strategic Product Design program at the International Hellenic University, specializing in Product Creativity and Design, which she completed in 2019. She is currently studying in the Department of Interior Architecture at the same university.
Since 2019, she has been active in the field through solo exhibitions as well as participation in group exhibitions and art events, including at the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art, at the “Helios” art space of the Municipality of Neapoli, and at Armos Gallery, among others.
The artist has explored various techniques, artistic movements, and themes, always with a human-centered focus. Stylistically, her work gravitates toward Abstract Expressionism and Realism. Thematically, she has been focusing for several years on the human figure, creating portraits with charcoal and oil. Through her works, she expresses philosophical and pragmatic explorations, aiming to communicate these to the viewer.

Η Σμαρώ Ταχματζίδου (Smaro Saliv) είναι εικαστικός με έδρα τη Θεσσαλονίκη.
Σπούδασε στη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών του ΑΠΘ, στο Τμήμα Εικαστικών και Εφαρμοσμένων Τεχνών, από όπου αποφοίτησε το 2016. Συνέχισε με μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές (MSc) στο πρόγραμμα Strategic Product Design στο Διεθνές Πανεπιστήμιο Ελλάδος, με κατεύθυνση Product Creativity and Design, τις οποίες ολοκλήρωσε το 2019. Σήμερα φοιτά στο Τμήμα Αρχιτεκτονικής Εσωτερικού Χώρου του ίδιου πανεπιστημίου.
Από το 2019 έως το παρόν δραστηριοποιείται στον χώρο τόσο με ατομικές εκθέσεις, όσο και με συμμετοχές σε συλλογικές εκθέσεις και εικαστικά δρώμενα εκ των οποίων στο Μακεδονικό Μουσείο Σύγχρονης Τέχνης, στον εικαστικό χώρο Ήλιος του Δήμου Νεάπολης, στην γκαλερί Αρμός κα.
Η εικαστικός έχει ασχοληθεί με διάφορες τεχνικές, καλλιτεχνικά κινήματα και αναζητήσεις, με ανθρωποκεντρικό άξονα. Στυλιστικά, κινείται γύρω από τον Αφηρημένο Εξπρεσιονισμό και τον Ρεαλισμό. Θεματικά, επικεντρώνεται εδώ και αρκετά χρόνια στον άνθρωπο, δημιουργώντας πορτραίτα με κάρβουνο και λάδι. Μέσω των έργων της εκφράζει φιλοσοφικές και πραγματιστικές αναζητήσεις, επιδιώκοντας την επικοινωνία αυτών με τον θεατή.
